ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Shokunin, the Japanese Design Festival in Copenhagen, is a non-profit initiative celebrating and promoting high quality craft and design from Denmark and Japan.
Historically, Japan and Denmark has had a strong mutual influence in terms of design and craftsmanship, beginning with the first wave of Japonism in the late 19th century and continuing to this day.
WHY?
The festival was established in 2020 as a tribute to traditional and modern Japanese/Danish design and craft and to highlight common features such as the quality of craftsmanship and the use of natural materials.
For the third time, selected artisans and designers will exhibit a wide range of original crafts and design, including ceramics, furniture, woodblock prints, paper sculptures, etc.
OM FESTIVALEN
Shokunin, Japansk Designfestival i København, er et non-profit initiativ, som fejrer og promoverer dansk og japansk håndværk og design af høj kvalitet.
Historisk set har japansk og dansk (kunst)håndværk haft en stærk gensidig indflydelse, fra den første bølge af japanisme i slutningen af 1800-tallet og op til i dag.
HVORFOR?
Shokunin blev startet i 2020 som en hyldest til tradtionelt og moderne Japansk/ dansk design og for at skabe fokus på deres fælles træk så som kvaliteten af håndværket og brugen af naturmaterialer.
For tredje gang, vil udvalgte kunstnere og designere udstille en bred vifte af originalt (kunst)håndværk og design, inklusiv keramik, møbler, træsnit, papirskulpturer, etc.
